:dateline:On March 13, Bapu Baldev Singh submitted a memorandum to the SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh seeking justice in 1986s Saka Nakodar. Bapu Baldev Singh is the father of Shaheed Bhai Ravinder Singh Littran who had attained martyrdom in Saka Nakodar.
Bapu Baldev Singh handed over the first part of Justice Gurnam Singh Commissions report and Human Rights Sabha Punjabs report to the Akal Takht Jathedar. He also gave him the reports published in the newspapers of that time about constitution of investigation committees under the leadership of the then SGPCs vice president Jathedar Kabal Singh and Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Wadala by Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra and asked him to provide the copy of investigation report submitted by SGPCs investigation committee.
Bapu Baldev Singh requested Giani Harpreet Singh to use his influence for availing justice to the families of Sikh youths who got martyred for the honor of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
On this, Giani Harpreet Singh assured Bapu Baldev Singh that he will thoroughly study the trio reports about Saka Nakodar and will announce action plan along with other Singh Sahibans to avail justice to the families of martyred Sikh youths.
It may be recalled here that the Punjab police cops had martyred four Sikh youths namely Bhai Ravinder Singh, Bhai Baldhir Singh, Bhai Jhilman Singh and Bhai Harminder Singh by opening an unprovoked firing on a peaceful caravan of Sikhs in Nakodar on February 4, 1986. This caravan of Sikhs was taking the desecrated saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to Goindwal Sahib for cremation.
These saroops were desecrated by unidentified culprits in Gurdwara Guru Arjan Dev Ji of Nakodar on February 2, 1986.
The police cops had martyred these Sikh youths after chasing them. After martyring them, the police didnt even give the mortal remains of these Sikh youths to their families and disrespectfully disappeared their dead bodies after burning them with petrol.
The family members of these martyred Sikh youths have still kept the memories of Saka Nakodar alive in their hearts and hold enough tenacity to bring the culprits of this tragedy to justice.
In this more than three and half decade long period of time, the parents of three out of the four martyred Sikh youths have passed away.
The parents of Shaheed Bhai Ravinder Singh Littran pay tribute to the martyrdom of these Sikh youths every year and always remain active to bring the culprits of this tragedy including Izhar Alam and Darbara Singh Guru to justice. The duo culprits are enjoying the patronage of Shiromani Akal Dal (Badal) these days.
