SGPC seeks passports from Sikhs aspirant of observing Guru Arjan Dev Jis martyrdom day in Lahore

:dateline:The apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee has sought passports from the Sikhs aspirant of observing the martyrdom day of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji and death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in Lahore (Pakistan). Notably, the Pakistan government grants visas to Sikhs every year to mark their historic days.

In a press release, SGPCs spokesperson Kulwinder Singh Ramdas informed that the aspirant Sikhs can submit their passports at SGPCs headquarters by March 20. A proof of identity, either Aadhar Card or Voter Card, passport size fresh photographs along with a recommendation letter from the concerned SGPC constituency will also be required, he added.

Last year, the Pakistani High Commission had denied visas to the Sikhs who had applied through SGPC as the date of Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s martyrdom day didn’t match with PSGPC’s event which follows basic Nanakshahi calendar.
