Delhi Violence: Death toll reaches 34, HC includes Centre as a party in petition seeking FIRs against BJP leaders

:dateline:Taking up a petition seeking indictment of the BJP leaders who incited violence in North-East Delhi, the Delhi High Court bench headed by Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice C Hari Shankar has today made the Union government, a party in the petition.

It is learnt that the HC bench has granted four weeks to the Centre and the police to file their replies to the petition seeking lodging of FIRs against three BJP leaders namely Anurag Thakur, Parvesh Verma and Kapil Mishra for making hate speeches.

During today�s court proceedings, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the Court that 48 FIRs have been lodged in relation to the violence and said there should be no judicial intervention till restoration of normalcy in the National Capital.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the death toll reached 34 today while the counting of injured people is over 200.
