High intensity blast leaves three dead and more than 10 injured during Nagar Kirtan near Tarn Taran

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—A highly intensity blast occurred in a tractor-trailer today claimed three lives and left several seriously injured near Daleke village of Tarn Taran district. The tractor-trailer was a part of religious procession being taken out from Gurdwara Baba Deep Singh (village Pahuwind) to Gurdwara Tahla Sahib (village Chabba).

The deceased devotees have been identified as Gurpreet Singh (12), Manpreet Singh (18) and Mandeep Singh.

The injured devotees have been identified as Gurkirat Singh, Gursimran Singh, Gurnoor Singh, Harnoor Singh, Niravdeep Singh, Ajaypal Singh, Paramjot Singh, Gursharan Singh, Anmolpreet Singh, Dawinderbir Singh and Sarabjot Singh

“The procession had just reached Daleke when the blast took place in a trailer of a tractor in which a chemical was stored,” said Manjinder Singh, a villager.

Six to seven teenagers were on the trailer that was a part of the procession. “The teenagers were making sounds resembling gunshots during the procession by using the chemical stored in the trailer,” Manjinder Singh said.

All the victims were immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital and Guru Nanak Dev Super Specialty Hospital of Tarn Taran. 

Khadoor Sahib MLA Ramanjit Singh Sikki immediately reached on the spot of incident and took stock of the situation.
