SGPC condoles demise of Jaswant Singh Kanwal and Dalip Kaur Tiwana

:dateline:The SGPC’s chief secretary Dr. Roop Singh has expressed deep grief on the demise of Punjabi writers Jaswant Singh Kanwal and Daleep Kaur Tiwana. He has said that the demise of both the personalities of Punjabi literature is a big loss for the literary world.

Dr. Roop Singh said that the writings of these two personalities played a major role in the betterment of society and in raising the concerns of Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiat. “Their literary work is historical in itself. Many great writers came to this field after reading their books and got direction for their writings,” he added.

“Both personalities acted as institutions individually. They played an important role in promoting Punjabi language along with Punjabi literary works,” said Dr. Roop Singh while adding that Kanwal also spent some time in the SGPC before entering into the field of literature.�

Dr. Roop Singh further said that the writer’s pen is considered as a mirror of the society.� “The demise of these two writers Jaswant Singh Kanwal and Bibi Daleep Kaur Tiwana is like a vacuum in this field,” he added.

He said that their writings have played a major role in connecting the readers with the knowledge of characters and intellectualism and in future these writings will be a source of light for new writers and readers also.

Dr. Roop Singh prayed for the spiritual peace of both the personalities and expressed sympathy with their families.
