Sikh activists, who tried to demolish statues of folk dancers, released on bail

:dateline:The Punjab government has released seven Sikh activists on bail, who were arrested for demolishing the statues of folk dancers. Notably, eight Sikh youths had tried to demolish the statues of folk dancers installed on Heritage Walk Street leading to Sri Harmandir Sahib.

Those released are Maninder Singh, Rajvir Singh, Ranjit Singh, Amritpal Singh, Amarjit Singh, Harwinder Singh, Ravinder Singh and Gursewak Singh, while a 16-year old youngster was released on bail earlier.

It may be recalled here that eight Sikh youths had tried to demolish the statues of folk dancers installed on the Heritage Walk Street leading to Sri Harmandir Sahib on January 15. All of them were booked under sections 307, 434, 427, 353, 186, 148 and 149 of Indian Penal Code and section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984.
