SGPC welcomes USA’s move of recognizing Sikhs as a separate ethnicity

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee has warmly welcomed the USA’s move of recognizing the Sikhs as a separate ethnic group for the 2020 census.

Terming the USA government’s as a plausible one, the SGPC has said that the Sikhs will get more strengthened this year. 

Longowal has congratulated the whole Sikh community for this good news for the Sikhs of America. He has also appreciated the efforts of the Sikh leaders of America while thanking American government.

He said that Sikhs have got the great achievements in all over the world due to the great Sikh philosophy and rich Sikh heritage. “Today, Sikhs are a part of the governments in  developed countries. Recognition of Sikhs as a different ethnicity by USA is another achievement of the Sikhs,” he added.

He further said that other countries should also follow the decision of America and it should be implemented in all countries of the world.

Longowal has also congratulated Tarnjeet Singh Sandhu on getting appointed as a Ambassador of America.
