Sri Harmandir Sahib’s Photo on Toilet Seat Cover: DSGMC lodges FIR, SGPC serves legal notice to Amazon

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Taking strong notice of printing the photo of Sri Harmandir Sahib on toilet seat covers and toilet foot mats, the apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee has served a legal notice to the online giant merchant Amazon i.e. where these products have been placed for trading.

Sharing the development with media, SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal has said that the Amazon has hurt religious sentiments of Sikhs by putting a toilet seat product with Sri Harmandir Sahib’s photo on sale. “We are also going to lodge a police complaint against Amazon,” he added.

It is pertinent to note here that the Amazon had put such products on sale in December-2018 also. However, the Amazon had tendered an apology at that time after delisting these products from website.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has also lodged an FIR against Amazon. “I have filed an FIR against @amazon for blasphemy towards Sri Harmandir Sahib. This time we won’t leave them just with an Apology. We will ensure strict legal action is taken against both the sellers and the Amazon,” tweeted DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa.
