Madhya Pradesh: Administration devastates 9 houses and 200 acres wheat cultivated land of Sikhs

BHOPAL, Madhya Pradesh—On December 30, the Madhya Pradesh administration devastated 9 houses of Sikhs and 200 acres of wheat in Patari, Gothra, Panwada and Lehroni villages of Tehsil Karhal (District Sheopur). Notably, these Sikhs had been living here for more than three decades after migrating from Punjab and Haryana.

Sharing the details with media, victim Sikh farmer Gulzar Singh Bajwa informed that the Sikh farmers had inhabited the land in these forest villages after migrating here more than three decades ago. “We are living here by constructing houses and cultivating land from a long time. We even have registries of this land except some public land,” he added.

Bajwa further informed that around 150 Police cops reached into their villages under the patronage of SDM on Monday morning and devastated their houses and wheat cultivated land with JCB machines and tractors within few hours. The cops didn’t even refrain from throwing out crying children, women and old aged members of their families.

“When we asked the administration not to destroy our legal homes, they didn’t listen to us instead they arrested Rajwinder Singh, Subhash and Sonu for opposing them,” Bajwa informed while adding that he has also been booked along with Jobanpreet Singh under the charges of hindering public work. 

It is pertinent to note here that the Congress party is ruling in Madhya Pradesh and the 1984 Sikh genocide culprit Kamal Nath is serving as a chief minister of Madhya Pradesh.

Meanwhile, DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa has strongly condemned this move of Madhya Pradesh administration and has sought Union Home Ministry’s intervention to save lives and livelihood of Sikhs. “A delegation of Sikhs will soon depart for Madhya Pradesh to take stock of the situation and every possible assistance will be provided to the victim Sikh families,” he added.
