:dateline:The Uttar Pradesh police have booked 55 Sikhs for taking out religious procession in commemoration of the martyrdom of Chaar Sahibzaade from Kiratpur Gurdwara in Uttar Pradesh�s Pilibhit district on December 29. The booked Sikhs have been accused of violating the section 144 of Cr.P.C which was imposed by the Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government to suppress protests against CAA and proposed NRC.


It is learnt that the police also seized a vehicle with Nishan Sahib which was a part of this religious procession. Initial reports reveal that the police have registered an FIR under section 188 of IPC (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) in which names of five Sikhs have been included while the other 50 have been depicted as unidentified.
Station House Officer (SHO) Sanjeev Kumar Upadhaya, has claimed that the Sikhs were taking out religious procession without permission.
However, the villagers have informed that they had sought permission from sub-divisional magistrate of Kalinagar circle, Hari Om Sharma, but he declined.
