:dateline:On December 30, SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal met Bibi Kamaldeep Kaur Rajoana at her residence in Ludhiana and promised her to make every possible effort to get Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana�s death sentence commuted. Notably, Bibi Kamaldeep Kaur Rajoana is a foster sister of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana who is a death row convict in Beant �Singh� assassination case.
SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal told Bibi Kamaldeep Kaur Rajoana that the SGPC will approach Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking implementation of Union government�s earlier decision to commute Bhai Rajoana�s death sentence. �If the Indian government doesn�t commute the death sentence of Bhai Rajoana the SGPC will take up the matter in Supreme Court by hiring senior lawyers,� he added.
Longowal also appealed Bhai Rajoana not to go on hunger strike and said that he would meet Bhai Rajoana personally in jail before January 11.
