CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Interacting with media, SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal said that the U-Turn taken by central government regarding the release of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana has hurt the Sikh sentiments. He said that the name of Bhai Rajoana was also in the list of Sikh prisoners who were supposed to get released on the eve of the 550 Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Bhai Longowal further said that a delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal will meet the Union Home Minister soon to apprise him about the feelings of Sikhs and appeal him to commute Bhai Rajoana’s death sentence and release him.
He said that a delegation in the leadership of senior vice president of SGPC S. Rajinder Singh Mehta and a technical team has gone to take stock of the situation in Orissa regarding the demolition of Mangu Math in Jagannath Puri.
