:dateline:A Sikh pilot named Captain Simranjeet Singh Gujral, who is serving in the Air India, was reportedly pulled aside for the screening of his turban at Madrid airport. Later, the Madrid airport officials also asked him to remove his turban to get it checked manually despite getting cleared through metal detector.
It is learnt that Captain Simranjeet Singh Gujral brought this incident into the notice of DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa on November 26.
Terming the incident as a case of bias and racial attitude towards Sikhs, the DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa has written a letter to the External Affairs Minister S Jaishanker asking him to take up the issue with the Spanish government.
“Such incidents have happened there in the recent past also when Sikhs were asked to remove the turban,” Sirsa wrote in the letter.
