DSGMC launches Turban Bank Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib; Turbans available at a negligible cost of Rupees 50

:dateline:To promote the Sikh symbol Turban among Sikh youths, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has launched a “Turban Bank” at Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib where the turbans are available at a very negligible cost i.e. Rupees 50 per turban.

It is learnt that the DSGMC has opened this turban bank with turbans donated on the eve of the 550th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Sharing the development with media, DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa informed that each donated turban has been dyed to give it a fresh look. The cost of a new 6-meter turban comes to about Rs 600, excluding tailoring cost but we have made the turbans available at a very negligible cost of Rupees 50, Sirsa said.

The positive response the initiative has evoked in the past three weeks will see more turban banks coming up in Delhi and elsewhere, he said.

The DSGMC has also deputed two Sikh veterans to teach the technique of tying turban in different ways with patience and practice in observance of Sikh faith to younger generations, at the bank.

Sirsa further said that the Turban signifies honor, piety, courage, self respect, spirituality and it is integral to Sikh faith.
