CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee has warmly welcomed the resolution passed by the US Senate hailing contribution of Sikhs in the development of America.
SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal has said that the Sikhs are touching the skies of success in the entire world with their hardwork and intellect.
Shedding light on the success stories of several Sikhs residing in different corners of the world, Longowal said that the US Senate has given a gesture of respect towards the great ideology of great Sikh masters by hailing the contribution of Sikhs in the development of America.
It may be recalled here that the American Senate had passed a resolution appreciating contribution of Sikhs on November 14. The resolution also mentioned the names of four Sikh men and three Sikh women in this resolution who contributed for the development of America.
The names of those Sikh men are: Daleep Singh Saund, who was the first Asian Parliament member elected in 1957, Dr. Narinder Kapani, who invented fiber optics, Didar Singh Bains, the largest grower of peaches in America and Gurinder Singh Khalsa, winner of the prestigious Rosa Parks Trailblazer Award.
The names of Sikh women Satnam Kaur, Grammy Award winning Artist, Gursoch Kaur, officer of the New York Police Department and Supreet Kaur, professor of Berkeley of University of California.
