SGPC to open new schools with 101.3 million collected in International Nagar Kirtan

:dateline:On November 15, the apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee revealed that the Sikh sangat donated 101.3 million to the first-ever international religious procession during its 96-day journey through 17 Indian states. Notably, this religious procession commenced from Nankana Sahib on August 1 and entered India the same day from Attari-Wagah joint check-post.

SGPC member Jathedar Tota Singh informed that the SGPC has decided to utilize this money for opening educational institutions in the name of Guru Nanak Sahib in various districts.

�All the SGPC members have agreed to utilize this money for opening schools dedicated to the 550th Parkash Purab. We will ask the SGPC president to execute it with the cooperation of the sangat, which has extended overwhelming response and devotion to this religious procession,� he said.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the devotees also donated foreign currency, gold and silver out of devotion to welcome this religious procession at their doorstep but it is unclear whether the SGPC has included the worth this foreign currency, gold and silver or not.
