:dateline:To celebrate the 550th birthday of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib, a jatha of 1303 Sikhs today departed for Pakistan. SGPC members Gurmeet Singh Booh, Baba Charanjit Singh Jassowal and Bibi Ravinder Kaur Ajrana will lead this jatha while Gurinderpal Singh Tharu and Karanjit Singh have been sent as a general manager.
Dr. Roop Singh, the chief secretary of SGPC, informed that the SGPC had applied visa for 1645 Sikh devotees but the Pakistani High Commission has granted visa to 1303 and the visa applications of the rest 342 Sikh devotees have been rejected.
�Unlike previous years, the Sikh pilgrims will be allowed to visit Gurdwara Janam Asthan Sri Nankana Sahib and Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib, and will return back on November 13,� he informed.
