UK: 39 dead bodies found inside a truck container in Essex

LONDON, England (UK)—The British police today revealed that it has recovered 39 dead bodies from a lorry from Bulgaria on an industrial estate in Essex. It might be the case of human trafficking as 38 out of the total 39 dead bodies are adult while the rest one dead body is of a teenage.

A 25-year-old driver, from Northern Ireland, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The force said the lorry was believed to be from Bulgaria but entered the country in Holyhead, the Welsh port town that serves Ireland.

The Essex police informed that the police officers were called by the ambulance service shortly before 1.40 am on Wednesday after the discovery of a container with people inside at the industrial park in Eastern Avenue.

Chief Superintendent Andrew Mariner of Essex police said that is a tragic incident where a large number of people have lost their lives. Our inquiries are ongoing to establish what has happened.

“We are in the process of identifying the victims. However I anticipate that this could be a lengthy process. We believe the lorry is from Bulgaria and entered the country at Holyhead on Saturday 19 October and we are working closely with our partners to investigate,” he said.
