Jagmeet Singh condemns oppression of Kashmiris by India; Supports right to self-determination for Sikhs and Kashmiris

TORONTO, Canada—Jagmeet Singh, the NDP’s face for Canadian polls, has said that self-determination is the basic right of every person which has been recognized by the United Nations. He has strongly condemned the oppression of Kashmiri people by India.

On being questioned about his views on Narendra Modi led Indian government during his poll campaign, Jagmeet Singh said that he wants an open and good relations with India and China as the duo big economies.

“But being a good friend, it becomes our duty to remind our friends about their wrong moves. So, I condemn Modi government’s move on Kashmir,” he said while adding that he would not have any hesitation in joining hands with India for some good deeds.    

On being questioned about the demand of a sovereign Sikh state Khalistan, Jagmeet Singh said that he is born of Canada and want to become the Prime Minister of Canada. “But, if a particular community wants its own representation then it is the basic of that community and the right to self-determination has also been recognized by United Nations,” he added.
