SGPC outraged over use of Sri Harmandir Sahib’s on movie’s poster; Lodges police complaint against producers

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Taking strong notice of the use of Sri Harmandir Sahib’s photo on the poster of an upcoming movie named ‘Ishq My Religion’, the apex Sikh body SGPC has lodged a written complaint to the Amritsar Police Commissioner seeking action against the producers of this movie. It is learnt that this movie is produced by Gurdeep Dhillon and Rana Gill and is set to hit screens on August 30.

SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal has said that Sri Harmandir Sahib is a central Sikh shrine of Sikhs so its commercial use can’t be tolerated at any cost. He has asked the Amritsar Police commissioner to indict the producers of this movie for hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikh community.

He also took on some foreign based companies who are selling their flour and rice products by printing the photo of sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib. He warned those companies to stop the use of Sri Harmandir Sahib’s photo, otherwise the SGPC would be forced to take action against them.

  1. They shouldn’t be ticked about a picture of the darbar sahib. . they should rather be ticked off that two non surat people on the cover eluding to Sikhi as their ‘religion’. . . SGPC has its priorities so backward.
