Documentary on Kargil War: Indian army hides role of 8th Sikh regiment in capturing Tiger Hill

:dateline:The Indian state doesnt spare any chance to make the Sikhs feel as a second class citizens in India. This has been happening since Indias liberation from the British regime in 1947 and is continuing till date.

In a major setback to those Sikhs, who believe India as their country and dont refrain from sacrificing their lives for its integrity and security, the Indian army has reportedly ignored the Eighth Battalion of the Sikh regiment in a recently released short video clip to mark 20 years of the Kargil war.

It is learnt that the Eighth Battalion of the Sikh regiment has not been given its due credit in this 8.55-minute video while elaborating the recapturing of Tiger Hill.

Lt Gen GS Shergill (retd), who was the Colonel Commandant of the Sikh regiment, in a Facebook post said, A major issue overlooked by everyone (the filmmakers) was the contribution of the Eighth Battalion of the Sikh regiment in the capture of Tiger Hill. Only two battalions got battle honor for Tiger Hill and Eighth Sikh was one of those. The other one is the 18 Grenadiers and is mentioned in the film.

We (the battalion) were the first to battle at Tiger Hill. You cannot refer to the battle without mentioning Eighth Sikh. I am pained thats why I raised the matter and this is not against the organization (Army), said Lt Gen Shergill, who retired in October 2015.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Indian army has approached Lt Gen Shergill and has assured to make necessary amendments in this documentary.

  1. What a foolish man is he, whosoever is behind Writing this Article. How the Hell he can say”That Indian State never leaves a chance to make sikhs feel as 2nd class citizens” You tell me one thing! Is it the Indian Govt. Who has made this movie? It was Bollywood who has made the movie not Indian govt. Or Indian Army. So It is the Fault of Filmmakers not The Govt. And One more thing….The General Saab has mentioned that Many units were left..not Just 8 Sikh….So does that mean the Govt. Is trying to Make those units feel as 2nd class Citizens…Rise above Thinking everything from religious angle…

    • When is anything in India been dealt without religion. Todays India is getting more religious than secular. If General Shergill is bringing up the issue- I say why not. When soldiers of any regiment fight with bravery and give up their life for the country…..they should be recognized for their valor and not pushed back into anonymity.
