Captain nullifies CBIs closure report in Bargari related sacrilege cases

:dateline:Terming the CBIs move of submitting closure report in Bargari related sacrilege cases as a hasty decision, the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has nullified the CBIs closure report. He has said that the CBIs decision has twitched the Sikh sentiments and it should revoke the closure report so that the investigation of Bargari related cases could be taken to a conclusive end.

Captain Amarinder Singh has said that the CBI didnt ignore only various aspects of the investigation, but also failed in bringing the sacrilege culprits to justice.

Asking the CBI to reconsider its decision of closing the sacrilege cases, Captain said that the CBI has ignored several suspects and witnesses who can prove instrumental in cracking these cases, if grilled properly.

Captain further said that the SAD-BJP alliance was ruling the state at that time, so the unexpected closure of these cases by the CBI has brought it under the question mark. He also cited the needle of suspicion rounded up by Justice Ranjit Singh led Investigation Commission on SAD in these cases.

Terming the sacrilege issue as an extremely sensitive one, Captain said that the investigation of sacrilege cases couldnt be left incomplete and it should be brought to a conclusive end so that the guilty culprits could be punished for their sins. The CBIs move of submitting closure report in these cases can also put an adverse effect on the law and order situation in Punjab, he said.

It may be recalled here that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had filed a closure report in sacrilege cases on July 4 in three cases pertaining to the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This report was filed by the CBIs ASP P. Chakraborty, who was the Investigating Officer in these cases, in the special CBI court of judicial magistrate G.S Sekhon.

The investigation of these sacrilege cases was given to the CBI by the former SAD led Punjab government on October 26, 2015. These three cases pertained to the theft of a holy saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from village Burj Jawahar Singh in June-2015, pasting of provocative posters in Bargari and committing sacrilege by scattering the sacred Angs of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in Bargari.

It is noteworthy here that the Congress led Punjab government had even passed a resolution on August 28 last year to take back the investigation of these cases from the CBI, but the CBI didnt pay any attention to the Punjab governments request in this concern.
