CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Latest updates reveal that the pro-Hindutva body RSS is building pressure on the management committee of Takht Sri Patna Sahib to reinstate Giani Iqbal Singh as a Jathedar of Takht Sri Patna Sahib. A senior RSS activist working under the dress of Nirmale Sant is said to be active in this concern from many days.
Sources have informed that this RSS activist has even influenced some members of the Takht Sri Patna Sahib Management Committee and he is continuously active in Patna Sahib to convince all other members to reinstate Giani Iqbal Singh.
It may be recalled here that the management committee of Takht Sri Patna Sahib had removed Giani Iqbal Singh from the post of Jathedar in May this year following several complaints against him to the Akal Takht Jathedar.
Initially, Akal Takht’s acting Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh had constituted a committee to probe allegations against Giani Iqbal Singh but he had resigned before the beginning of investigation in these allegations. On getting apprised of Giani Iqbal Singh’s resignation, Giani Harpreet Singh had directed the management committee of Takht Sri Patna Sahib to accept Giani Iqbal Singh’s resignation using powers available under section 79 of the board’s constitution.
On May 10, the management committee had accepted Giani Iqbal Singh’s resignation and Giani Rajinder Singh was appointed as an acting Jathedar of the Takht Sri Patna Sahib.
