Rise of Hindutva: Singer Hard Kaur Blames Indian Leaders for Terrorism and Political Murders

LONDON, UK—Taran Dhillon, also known as Hard Kaur has recently expressed fury over the rise of the right-wing and Hindu nationalism in India. Taran is a hip hop and Bollywood singer. She settled in the UK after her father was killed during the state-sponsored 1984 anti-Sikh pogroms. She has openly condemned and labelled the BJP and RSS as terrorists, responsible for mass murders in India.

Amongst those targeted by Taran are Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, RSS leader Mohan Bhagwat, and Uttra Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Hard Kaur has taken a strong stand against the rise of right-wing Hindutva in India on various social media platforms.

Labelling Mohan Bhagwat as a terrorist, Taran said, “He is responsible for all terrorist attacks in India including 26/11, Pulwama Attack.

The face of all problems in India. Constitutional casteism is a crime. You were banned by Sardar Patel ji after Gandhi’s murder by Godse. You are not a Nationalist.”

In another post describing Yogi Adityanath, Taran alleged that he was a rapist.

Taran also commented on 1984 anti-Sikh pogroms, in which her own dad was murdered and her mother’s parlour was burnt down. She used the hashtag #1984SikhGenocide along with newspaper clipping in which names of several BJP leaders are mentioned for instigating murders of the Sikhs.

She has also posted a number of videos on Facebook where right-wing Hindu nationalists can be seen abusing other minorities. A video shows one Hindu man abusing and forcing a Muslim taxi driver to shout “Jai Sri Raam”.

Ajmer Singh Randhawa, a Sikh intellectual and writer from Delhi – “She may have used foul language, but she has proven to be a lioness. Sikh leaders, on the other hand, have proven to be cowards [for not speaking out against Hindu nationalists.”

Taran has been booked under sedition charges in India for her alleged defamatory remarks against Indian politicians. She will face arrest upon her travel to India.
