June 21 to be observed as an International Gatka Diwas

:dateline:The pro-freedom Sikh outfit Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) is all set to mark June 21 as an International Gatka Diwas across the world. Notably, the SAD (Amritsar) has been marking June 21 as an International Gatka Diwas from the last five years to counter the call of saffron Indian government to mark June 21 as an International Yoga Day.

In a press note shared with Sikh24, the SAD (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann has appealed the worldwide Sikh masses to mark June 21 as an International Gatka Diwas.

It is learnt that the district units of SAD (Amritsar) in India have been directed to mark the day with extreme religious fervor and honor the participating teams as per the Sikh traditions.

Gatka is a complete martial system which uses spiritual, mental and physical skills in equal portions to help one fully competent in defending themselves and others. In addition to giving the student defensive skills, it also helps the individual with other aspects of their life: makes the mind alert and responsive, maintains the body in a near perfect condition and makes soul fearless, compassionate and tranquil.
