UK Sikhs commit 500 million for developing religious tourism in Pakistan

:dateline:On June 10, the UK based Sikh businesses committed an investment of 500 million to Sayed Zulfiqar Bukhari, the Special Assistant of Pakistani PM Imran Khan, for the development of religious tourism in Pakistan including the Kartarpur corridor.

Sayed Zulfiqar Bukhari, who also heads the Pakistan Tourism Board, underwent a meeting with the Sikh representatives at The Rembrandt Hotel in London on June 10 in which he discussed religious tourism projects in Pakistan following the historic laying of foundation stones for the Kartarpur Corridor on either side of the border in November 2018.

The Peter Virdee Foundation and other traders of the UK are prepared to inject 500 million, said the Sikh Federations press secretary Gurjeet Singh.

During this meeting, Sayed Bukhari announced that he would ensure the establishment of tourism desks in Pakistani embassies and dedicated staff to facilitate visas for those taking part in pilgrimage there later this year.

He also made a specific commitment on connectivity whereby high-standard free buses would connect all the main Gurdwaras in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Indian state has started expressing its frustration over this commitment of funds by the UK Sikhs to Pakistan by saying that the funds were going in wrong hands. In this frustration, the Indian media outlets might begin negative propaganda against Sikhs and Pakistan in coming days.
