550th Birthday Celebrations: Dhadi and Kavishari Competitions Held in Hoshiarpur

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Commemorated to the 550th birthday of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee organized zone level competitions of Dhadis and Kavishars at Gurdwara Shaheedan Ladhewal Mahilpur (Hoshiarpur). On the first day of these competitions, 28 Dhadi and Kavishar Jathas participated while on the second day 8 Jathas took part.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, SGPC member Surinder Singh Bhulewal Rathan highly hailed the efforts being made by the SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal to promote the art of Dhadi and Kavishari. He also congratulated the Dhadi and Kavishari Jathas who secured positions in these competitions.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the final competitions of these Jathas will be held at Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib on November 9 this year where the winning Jathas will be given the cash reward by the SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal.
