CKD ready to establish Sikh University if state government or SGPC allots land

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Accepting the proposal of SGPC appointed acting Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, the Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) has decided to set up a university with a focus on preachment of Sikhism. The primary focus of the university will be on preparing Sikh preachers with excellent proficiency in English.

In the general house meeting held on June 2, the CKD president Nirmal Singh confirmed that the Chief Khalsa Diwan was ready to establish this single domain university if the state government or SGPC provides land for it.

“Untrimmed hairs and basic knowledge of Sikh history and principles will be mandatory for anyone aspirant of taking admission in this university,” he said while adding that the students will be taught specific curriculum and research that pertains to the Sikh religion, history and Gurbani.
