SGPC in dilemma over clearing animation movie “Dastaan – E – Miri Piri”

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The chances of the release of animation movie “Dastaan – E – Miri Piri” have declined as the SGPC’s sub-committee couldn’t take any final decision about it in a meeting held on May 29. Notably, the movie was set to be released on June 5 but the Akal Takht Jathedar has clearly warned the producers not to release this movie without his nod.

Available information reveals that only 7 out of the total 12 members of the sub-committee, namely Hardeep Singh Mohali, Bhagwant Singh Sialka, Bibi Kiranjot Kaur, Balwinder Singh Jaura Singha, Dr. Inderjit Singh Gogoani, Dr. Sarbjinder Singh Patiala and Simerjeet Singh Kang attended this meeting.

Although the present sub-committee members thoroughly watched this movie during the meeting, but still they couldn’t take any decision to give green or red signal to the movie.

Interacting with the media after attending the meeting, Hardeep Singh Mohali said that there are some historical and theoretical flaws in the movie, but the major flaw lies with SGPC as its earlier committees had given approval for portraying Guru Sahib, Chaar Sahibzaade and Panj Piare in animated form.

SGPC secretary Balwinder Singh Jaura Singha said that one more meeting of this sub-committee could be called next week to take final decision.

Bibi Kiranjot Kaur has said that as all the members were not present in the meeting, so they couldn’t take any final decision.
