Pakistan Allots 70 Acres Land for Guru Nanak International University

:dateline:The state government of western Punjab (Pakistan) has allotted 70 acres land for the proposed Guru Nanak International University to be established at Nankana Sahib in commemoration of the 550th birthday of first Sikh master Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Sharing the development with media, the western Punjab’s CM Usman Buzdar informed that a special provision of funds will be kept in the financial year 2019-20’s budget for this proposed Guru Nanak International University. “The state government is also going to establish the campus of National Registration Database Authority and Police Lines Jail in Nankana Sahib,” he added.

It is pertinent to note here that the Pakistani Sikhs have been demanding the establishment of a university in Nankana Sahib from a long time. The proposal had first come to fore in 2003 during the tenure of Parvez Elahi.

Recently, a Pakistani university had also created the Guru Nanak research chair to promote the message of peace that the Sikh spiritual leader preached.
