:dateline:Replacing its previous face Arun Jaitley, the saffron BJP has now nominated former Indian diplomat Hardeep Singh Puri from the Amritsar parliamentary seat. His name was announced in the BJP’s 23rd list of candidates released on April 21.
It may be recalled here that Arun Jaitley was BJP’s candidate from Amritsar parliamentary seat during the last parliamentarian polls in 2014. He had lost this seat to Captain Amarinder Singh by a huge margin.
Later, Captain Amarinder Singh had resigned from this seat to contest the assembly polls, but the Congress had again succeeded in retaining this seat in 2017’s by-poll with the victory of Gurjit Singh Aujla by a huge margin. ��
