Resident of village Chaurha Madhra (Gurdaspur), Shaheed Bhai Mathra Singh had attained martyrdom while battling against the Indian oppression on July 2, 1987. His real name was Harwinder Singh but he was assigned the name “Mathra Singh” during the pre-1984 period when he used to work under the patronage of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale.
