Meaning: verb: (They) bow.

bhagat janaa kau sadaa niv raheeaai   jan niveh taa phal gun paavaigo.
Always bow to the devotees; (those who) bow to the devotees, they obtain the fruits of divine virtues. -Guru Ram Das, Guru Granth Sahib,1309

Message: Onceagain, the message here is to show deep respect to genuine seekers or devotees. In the Sikh supplication (ardas), we pray for the gift of discernment (bibek) and we should use this faculty to know what is right and what is wrong.

Bowing in deep respect requires us to follow the instructions or guidance offered by such seekers. At the risk of being criticised, Team AWAT would like to suggest that the litmus test to distinguish the genuine seekers from the fake ones should be to explore if the actions (conduct) of the seekers/devotees and their instructions are in accordance with the teachings/guidance in Gurbani. If there is no concordance, please give them a wide berth.

Etymology: Combination of Sanskrit niv (bows) + suffix (eh).
