:dateline:On March 9, the photos of architectural designs of Passenger Terminal Building to be developed at Indian side of Kartarpur corridor for the Sikh pilgrims surfaced over the mainstream media outlets in India. Media outlets have written with reference to an anonymous senior Indian official that the Indian government will spend Rupees 1.9 Billion on this passenger terminal building spread over 50 acres for 5000 pilgrims.
The design of the passenger terminal building has been inspired by the Khanda sign a symbol of the Sikh faith that represents the values of oneness and humanity. Beside it, the Indian flag will also be hoisted at the height of 300-ft in this building to be constructed at Indo-Pak border.
Sources have revealed that the Indian government will complete this project in two phases. In the first phase, about 15 acres will be developed for which land has been already acquired. For the smooth journey of Sikh pilgrims, other amenities including a hospital and accommodation arrangement will be developed in the second phase.
Media reports further say that the Indian government has asked the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), mandated to build and operate integrated check posts along the land borders of the country, to complete this project before the 550th birth anniversary celebrations due in November this year.
It is pertinent to note here that the Pakistani delegation is arriving in India March 14 to finalize the draft agreement on the Kartarpur corridor project which will provide smooth access of the historic Sikh shrine to the Sikhs living in India.
