Unjust Conviction of Sikh Youths: Nawanshahr Court’s Verdict Challenged in High Court

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Three Sikh youths, who were sentenced to life by the Nawanshahr Court just for possessing literature about the Sikh martyrs on January 31, have challenged the trial court’s verdict in the Punjab & Haryana High Court. Notably, the Court of Justice Randhir Verma had held the trio Sikh youths guilty of waging war against the Indian government under sections 121 and 121-A of the Indian Penal Code.

In their appeal filed through legal counsel Rajwinder Singh Bains on February 14, the trio Sikh youths submitted that no case was made out against them. The appeal is expected to come up for hearing next week.

A sharp outrage among the Sikh community is being observed against this unjust conviction of Sikh youths. Sikh activists and common University students have staged protest against this unjust conviction.
