Portraits of Saka Nakodar’s Martyrs to be installed in California’s Gurdwara Sahib on February 17

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The American Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee is going to install portraits of four Sikh martyrs of Saka Nakodar at Gurdwara Singh Sabha situated in the Bay area of Milpitas, California. A religious program will be organized on February 17 at Gurdwara Singh Sabha to install the portraits while commemorating the 33rd martyrdom anniversary of Nakodar martyrs.  

Four Sikh youths namely Bhai Ravinder Singh, Bhai Harminder Singh, Bhai Baldhir Singh and Bhai Jhilman Singh had attained martyrdom on February 4, 1986 while staging protest against sacrilege of five corpuses Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The Punjab police had opened fire on them when they were staging a peaceful protest in Nakodar.
