Chief Khalsa Diwan’s General Elections on February 17

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—After accepting the nominations on February 7 & 8 and scrutinizing the applications of candidates on February 9, the executive committee of Chief Khalsa Diwan is all set to hold its general election on February 17.

Narinder Singh Khurana, the honorary secretary of Chief Khalsa Diwan, informed that the bogus votes have been excluded and now 398 out of the total 425 CKD members will elect their office bearers on February 17. “Prof Baljinder Singh, Iqbal Singh Lalpura and Jaswinder Singh Dhillon have been appointed as election officials,” he added.

It may be recalled here that the general elections of CKD were stayed by the Court last year when a CKD member had approached the Court expressing apprehensions of bogus vote casting. The court has recently vacated the stay after the submission of an amended list.
