Bengali Translation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Released in Kolkata

KOLKATA, West Bengal, India—In a special event organized by the JIS University (Kolkata) at Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture on February 8, the Bengali version of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was released by the former Indian president Pranab Mukherjee. It is learnt that translators Chayan Ghosh and Jhuma Ghosh completed the translation work in four years.

The project was taken up by the Dada Chellaram Publications so that the 30 million Bengali population could be apprised with the great Sikh philosophy. The translation will be released in five volumes.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Pranab Mukherjee said the Bengali translation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji will spread the fundamental message of spirituality i.e. there is only one creator.

“Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji emerges above the religious divisiveness by embracing the universality of love and condemning the discrimination on the basis of religion, caste, creed, color and race” said Mukherjee.
