Avtar Singh Hit Punished for Equating Nitish Kumar with Guru Sahib

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—On January 28, the SGPC appointed acting Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh addressed religious punishment to Avtar Singh Hit, the President of Takht Sri Patna Sahib Management Board, for his blasphemous act of equating Bihar CM Nitish Kumar with Guru Sahib during a religious program held on January 13 to celebrate Guru Gobind Singh’s birth anniversary.

Addressing the quantum of punishment to Avtar Singh Hit from the podium of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh directed him to clean shoes, dishes and listen Gurbani Kirtan at Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib (Patna) for seven days. Beside it, he has been directed to perform similar sewa (service) at the holiest Sikh shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib.

After completing this quantum of punishment, Hit will lay Sri Akhand Path Sahib and will offer Karah Prasad along with Rupees 5100/- each at both the shrines during the Ardas.

Interacting with media after getting punished, Avtar Singh Hit said that he couldn’t resist himself from praising Nitish Kumar as he has done immense work for the Sikh community. “In emotional flow, I narrated some adjectives to Nitish Kumar that are solely reserved for Guru Sahib. I humbly bow before Sri Akal Takht Sahib as a true Sikh and will abide by the directions of Jathedar and will start the sewa shortly,” he added.

  1. Hit needs to be given exemplary punishment. He belongs to Badal group and members of Akali dal Badal can go to any extent to defame the Khalsa Panth . Shame on him . Badal should expel him from the party
