If we consider the good and the bad time or moment, then when should we worship the Divine? -Guru Amar Das, Guru Granth Sahib, 35

Message: According to Bhai Vir Singh, the hymn from which this verse is taken was uttered in response to a query regarding the most appropriate time for meditation on the Divine. The Guru questions the need to ponder and try to find out which is the right time for worshipping the Divine, as we may find it difficult to come up with an appropriate time. Instead, we should worship the Divine at all times.

True worship or devotion is when not even a single moment goes by without the memory of the Beloved. Only by being imbued with the Divine love and virtues continually, can we be aware of the Divine presence within us and in everyone else at all times. Such a constant connection with the Divine will help our mind and body become serene and peaceful.

ਵੇਲਾ ਵਖਤ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ॥ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਚਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ॥
All times and moments are beautiful when the true Divine becomes pleasing to my mind. -Guru Amar Das, Guru Granth Sahib, 115

Etymology: Combination of kit (which, what) + velaa (time, period).
