Nishant Sharma & 2 Others Get Three Years Sentence for Attempting Attack on Jathedar Hawara

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—A Chandigarh Court of Judicial Magistrate Gurkiran Singh on January 18 addressed three years imprisonment to three radical Hindu elements, including the Shiv Sena Hindustan’s chief Nishant Sharma for deterring public servants from discharge of their duty. Beside it, the Court also imposed a fine of Rupees 5000/- on the trio culprits.

The case dates back to November 11, 2011 when Nishant Sharma, Ashutosh Gautam, Ramesh Kumar and Manish Sood had tried to attack Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara when he was being produced before the Court in Burail jail break case. Nishant Sharma had tried to hit Bhai Hawara but he was given a befitted reply by Bhai Hawara with a hardcore slap.

Later, the police had registered a case against them under section 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 341 (wrongful restraint) and section 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

Manish Sood, one of these radical Hindu elements, had died during the trial of this case.
