Sukhbir Badal Demands Removal of Rajiv Gandhis Name from Institutions, Awards and Public Schemes

:dateline:Interacting with media on December 24 at Talwandi Sabo, the SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the name of former Indian PM Rajiv Gandhi should be removed from all government institutions, awards and public schemes, keeping in view his hand in the 1984 Sikh genocide. He added that the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) will make an appeal to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this concern.

It is pertinent to note here that the AAP led Delhi government had recently passed a resolution about the 1984 Sikh genocide demanding revocation of the Bharat Ratna award from Rajiv Gandhi which left the Congress party crying. Later, the Delhi assembly speaker had clarified that the demand of revoking the Bharat Ratna from Rajiv Gandhi was not a part of the copy of resolution submitted to him.

Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the naming of awards, schemes and national projects like airports cant be accepted on the name of a person who orchestrated the carnage of innocent Sikhs. The entire Sikh community is of the view that Rajiv Gandhi authored and engineered the mass murder of Sikhs through his leaders Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler. Now, they want closure in the case and this will be best done by withdrawing the Bharat Ratna conferred on Rajiv Gandhi, besides removing his association with all national projects and schemes, he said.

Taking on the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh for giving a clean chit to the Gandhi family in the 1984 Sikh genocide, Sukhbir Badal said that Captain Amarinder Singh has betrayed the Sikh community just to save his chair.
