:dateline:Taking strong notice of the disrespectful featuring of Sri Harmandir Sahib�s photo on the toilet seat product, the apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee on December 19 served a legal notice to the internet retail giant Amazon. Notably, a sharp outrage among Sikh community is being observed after displaying of these highly offensive pictures of the holy shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib by Philiphome on Amazon.
SGPC secretary Dr. Roop Singh has said that the Amazon�s act of hurting Sikh sentiments can�t be tolerated at any cost. He added that the Amazon has hurt the sentiments of not only Sikhs instead worldwide devotees of other religions also as they also come to pay obeisance at the holiest Sikh shrine. �We have also registered a police complaint against Amazon with the Amritsar Police Commissioner� he added.
Dr. Roop Singh further said that the SGPC has served notice to the Amazon asking it to tender an apology and remove the highly offensive displaying of Sri Harmandir Sahib�s photo from the website. �If the Amazon doesn�t seek an apology and remove this content from the website then we will sue the Amazon in Civil Court� he added.
�We have also written a letter to the Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj to do the needful in this concern as Amazon is foreign based firm� Dr. Roop Singh said while appealing the governments of various countries to keep a watch on such websites. �
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Amazon has removed this content after SGPC’s notice and complaints various other Sikh outfits.�
