World Sikh Parliament Hails Pakistan’s Initiative to Build Kartarpur Sahib Corridor

LAHORE, Punjab—The World Sikh Parliament has highly hailed the Pakistan government’s initiative of beginning the construction of Kartarpur Sahib corridor by terming the development as a best tribute to the first Sikh master Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on the historic eve of his 550th birthday celebrations. Notably, the Pakistani PM Imran Khan had laid the foundation stone of Kartarpur corridor in Shakargarh Tehsil of Narowal District in Pakistani Punjab on November 28.

“This occasion will also be a milestone in the burgeoning friendship between the Sikh nation and Pakistan which has, once again, shown its genuine commitment to its minorities in general and the Sikhs in particular” reads a press release by the WSP highlighting the mistreatment being endured by the Sikhs residing in India.  

The World Sikh Parliament has also predicted of the inflow of Sikh pilgrims in large scores once the Kartarpur Sahib corridor becomes operational. The Kartarpur Sahib corridor is expected to act as a powerful driver of an enthusiastic engagement between the Sikhs and Pakistan over the months and years ahead.

It is noteworthy here that the Word Sikh Parliament was formed in pursuance to a resolution of the Sarbat Khalsa (Sikh congregation) held at village Chabba of Amritsar Sahib in November 2015. It has been set to work with the UN, states and non-state actors to represent and safeguard the interests of the Sikh nation and to promote universal values and international law both in the Sikh homeland and beyond.
