The mind imbued with the Word of the Guru becomes steady and stable – this is the most excellent action. -Guru Nanak Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 908
Message: Of all the tools you have to work with in your life journey, the most important is your mind. It is never still. However, instead of letting your mind wander around in all directions, doing every random thing it wants to – obsessing over and over about the same problems, about this person or that event – you can take control of your mind and bring it to a stable state.
Just as with an undisciplined child, you can guide your mind towards a spiritual path. The condition is that it has to be imbued with the teachings of the Guru. This entails guiding the mind gently away from common desires and materialistic views into a greater spiritual outlook – to fully align it with the essence of divinity.
Etymology: Blend of a (prefix) + sathir from Sanskrit sthir (firm, stable).
