SIT Serves Summons to Parkash Badal, Sukhbir Badal and Akshay Kumar in Kotkapura Firing Case

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The Special Investigation Team of Punjab police headed by ADGP Prabodh Kumar served summons to the former Punjab CM Parkash Badal, Ex-Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal and Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar on November 11  seeking their appearance on November 16, November 19 and November 21 respectively. The SIT has summoned them using its power under section 160 of Cr.P.C.

Sikh24 has learnt that the SIT has directed the Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar to appear before it in the Circuit House of Amritsar on the basis of some evidences confirming the involvement of Akshay Kumar in granting pardon to Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim. Notably, Akshay Kumar is accused of brokering a deal between the SAD president Sukhbir Badal and Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim to ensure release of movie “Messenger of God” in Punjab.

It is learnt that the SIT has given relaxation to Parkash Badal keeping in view his old age as the SIT can’t cannot summon a person above the age of 65 to a place far away from his residence. “The former CM possesses a fleet of vehicles given by the government and was already travelling to different places. But we won’t insist on examining him in Amritsar. We are open to meet him wherever he desires”, said IG Kuver Vijay Partap Singh.

Sharing the development with media, a government spokesman informed that these summons have been issued under the name of SIT member IG Kuver Vijay Partap Singh in relation to an FIR No. 129 registered in the Kotkapura police station under sections 307, 323, 341, 148, 149 of Cr.P.C and section 27 of Arms & Ammunition Act.

It has come to fore that the SIT has already grilled more than 30 junior police cops and 50 other witnesses besides the then IG Jatinder Jain, IG Paramraj Umranangal DIG Amar Singh Chahal, Faridkot DC, Kotkapura legislator Mantar Singh Brar, SDM V.K Syal etc.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the former Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal might turn up before the SIT to evade Congress’ attack on him on sacrilege issue despite the fact that it is not mandatory for him to appear before the SIT. Earlier, the Shiromani Akali Dal had annulled the Justice Ranjit Singh led Investigation Commission and the duo Badals didn’t turn up before the Commission.
