As a pigeon bird drops itself into the trap, so the self-centred persons fall under the influence of death. -Guru Ram Das Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 538

Message: In their greed for some corns or grains, bird species such as pigeons fall into the trap and get captured or killed. Likewise, the humans who focus their consciousness entirely on materialism invite spiritual ruin. Under the influence of their disruptive traits (self-absorption, greed, etc.), they fall into the vicious circle of excessive worldliness and inevitably end up with suffering.

Let us be Guru-oriented. Let us humble ourselves to the Guru and beseech His grace. Let us thus allow divine wisdom to be our support and protector.

Etymology: From Sanskrit kapot (pigeon, dove) ? Pali kapot (pigeon).
