Punj Piare Demands Appointment of Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara as Akal Takht Jathedar

:dateline:The former Punj Piares of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, who were sacked by the SGPC in 2015, have sought appointment political Sikh prisoner Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara as a Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib by the SGPC. Notably, Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara was appointed as Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib by the Sikh congregation named Sarbat Khalsa called at village Chabba on November 10, 2015.

After offering prayer for the high spirit of Sikh community and Panthik unity at Sri Akal Takht Sahib on October 21, the Punj Piares took on politicians for undermining the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. They recalled that the imposition of amended Nanakshahi calendar was also an attack on Sikh dignity by the SGPC.

Commenting on the resignation of Giani Gurbachan Singh, the Punj Piares said that Giani Gurbachan Singh would have resigned three ago when he had undermined the Sikh tenets and the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib by granting an unasked pardon to Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

They have also appealed the entire Sikh community to include the demands of punishment to sacrilege culprits and police cops guilty of opening firing on Sikh protesters and success of ongoing agitation for the permanent release of political Sikh prisoners in Ardas (prayer).
