:dateline:Interacting with media in Jalandhar on October 18, the SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal informed that the third general house meeting of SGPC has been called on November 13 for electing the new executives of the apex Sikh body. It is learnt that the SGPC members were unaware about it and they got apprised about the meeting after this public announcement by Longowal.
In the second general house meeting of SGPC held on November 29 last year, Gobind Singh Longowal was elected as president with 154 votes out of the total 169 casted votes. Raghujit Singh was elected as senior vice president, Harpal Singh as junior vice president and Gurbachan Singh Karmuwala as general secretary. Unlike the previous years, the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) had tried to give impression of abiding full-fledged democratic values in electing the SGPC officials during this meeting.
