BREAKING: More than 50 Dussehra Spectators Lose Life in Amritsar

:dateline:In an unfortunate incident occurred�today at Amritsar Sahib, more than 50 people lost their lives while watching the burning of Ravan�s effigy. As the Ravan�s effigy was being burnt, a train coming from Jalandhar side mowed down� them. The accident took place at Jauda Phatak area in the city, where Ravan�s effigy was burnt near the tracks.

It is learnt that the Dussehra spectators couldn�t hear the sound of train coming towards them due to ongoing bursting of firecrackers in Ravan�s effigy at that time. It is also being said that the watchers couldn’t escape from there as two trains in opposite directions arrived at the same time.�

It has also come to fore that the entire program was being organized by the Congress party workers and the burning of Ravan�s effigy was scheduled for 6 pm however the effigy was burnt after much delay due to late arrival of a Congress leader.

District authorities have been mobilised on war footing� wrote Captain Amarinder Singh from his social media accounts.

Meanwhile, the Sarbat Khalsa appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Dhian Singh Mand has extended condolences to the aggrieved families.
